Just when I needed you most는 포크 음악 및 사이몬과 가펑클의 음악성을 강하게 받은 Randy Vanwarmer의 서정미 넘치는 곡. Randy는 미국 콜로라도주 덴버출신으로 작곡에만 전념하다가 77년 솔로싱어로 출발하였는데, 어쿠스틱 기타에 실린 그의 따스한 인간애가 물씬 풍기고  있는 음악... 이 곡은 가장 필요한 때에 자신의 곁을 떠나가 버린 연인을 생각하면서 예전보다  훨씬 더 그립고 사랑하고 있다는 내용을 노래하고 있고 디스코 열풍이 휘몰아치던 당시 팝 발라드 곡으로서는 드물게 빌보드 싱글차트 4위까지 오른곡이다
